The Race Weekend on Your Apple Watch

The Race Weekend on Your Apple Watch
Example screens from Race Results; race data and countdowns change over time.

Race Results now has an Apple Watch companion. You can check what is next in the race weekend without taking your iPhone out each time.

The Watch app keeps the things that are useful for a quick look: the next session, the weekend timetable and the championship top five.

How long until the next session?

The countdown shows the time until the next session. You can check it for MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3, so it is useful for following the whole weekend, not just the main race.

When there is more than a day to wait, the Watch also shows the session date. A countdown is useful, but sometimes the date is what you actually need.

The weekend timetable

Open the timetable to see the sessions for the Grand Prix weekend. Practice, qualifying and the races are all easier to plan around when you have the schedule close by.

The Watch can refresh directly when it has a connection, and it can also receive a snapshot from the iPhone app. Make sure it has refreshed before relying on it away from your phone.

A quick look at the championship

The Watch shows the top five in the championship for each class. It gives you a quick reminder of where things stand, while the iPhone app has the fuller standings and rider details.

The last sync stays available

The most recent refresh is kept on the Watch, so you can still look at it offline. It is a saved snapshot, rather than a promise that new results will arrive without a connection.

One more change is in the next update: version 1.8 fixes Watch session times that could be shifted by the circuit's time difference. Thanks Henk for pointing it out. That fix is still marked unreleased, so I will update this post when it ships.

If there is something else you would like to check from your wrist during a race weekend, please send me your feedback.

Thank you for reading ❤️
